The good
I bought the X10 a while back ago and I really liked it. So after reading the specification on the sequel I just had to buy it. The main difference from the X10 is the screen which now has a larger resolution as well as the screen has gotten bigger. And boy it really shows. The screen looks fantastic compared to the X10. Further more the new Xperia has expanded the RAM memory to 512 MB. The X10 only had 128 MB which really made it sluggish sometimes, especially when you used some widgets and apps that needed more juice from the phone. A new processor has been inserted as well which makes the new Xperia work like a charm. No lagg at all. The menues scrolls great and the apps works so far very good.
The battery life has also improved. After 3 days off using I installed a battery app that measured the time from fully loaded til it was completely drained. It lasted 1 day and 19 hours. During this time I used the phone moderate. Some phone calls, market downloads, grooveshark and text messaging. This is quite impressive compared to the X10 which was one of the biggest disadvantage.
As I mentioned before the screen is so much better then the X10. One more major advantage is that it's made of glass and not plastic. I think it took only 2 weeks before I got a minor scratch on my X10. Ok I didn't use the screen protector that was included beacause it simply made the appearance of the screen look dull. The screen protector that includes now is much better. You don't even notice it at all, besides 1 or 2 minor bubbles which will eventually dissapear.
The keyboard has been improved. The X10 keyboard was marvelous and it has gotten even better now. When typing you get a more feedback when pressing. Nice clicking sound which I like a lot.
The size. With a bigger battery and screen it only logical that the phone would be a lot bigger. But no. It is bigger but hardly noticible.
Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread preinstalled. This was a problem on the X10. New upgrades took forever to be released. But now Sony has changed. They release the updates in a faster pace. 2.3.4 will come in October. Only the Google phones will recieve the update earlier. Thats just awesome!
The price. It is cheap just like X10 is. The best prices can be found here.

The bad
The battery cover. It's quite hard to get it open. You have to pull hard to get it off. I almost broke the cover because it wouldn't get off. So be careful when you open it.
Timescape. Sonys own widget thats preinstalled on the phone. Like on the X10 it's still a bit clumsy. When trying to scroll through the events it's hard to stop at a specific message. The profile pictures are very distored on for an exampel a mates status update on facebook which makes it really ugly.
The speaker. X10 speaker was incredible. High volume and nice details soundwise. On the new Xperia the volume is a bit lower. Ok I used some ringtones from Zedge that might not be the best quality but I aslo used Zedge on the X10 as and the volume were more than good. Sadly this is not the case on the new Xperia.
Surfing the web. Due to the size of the screen, webbing is still a bit tricky. It is better then the X10 but still it's quite tricky with such small screen.
2 GB sd card included. Only 2 GB. If you use app2sd (An app that transfers from the phone memory to the SD card) the memory will soon run out. Especially if you install large apps like Navigon that lies around 800 MB.
Cuclusion.
I think the new Xperia is great. It has improved in almost all areas. So if you liked the X10 you will simply love the new one. The X10 was a huge success and the new Xperia will certainly follow it's steps. You should not buy the Xperia thinking it will give you the best surfing or movie expericence. The screen is simply to small. But if you are looking for a small, competent, great looking and stylish phone this one is your choice.
Score 8 out of 10
