Review : Gelaskins

I received a package today from Gelaskins.com, containing a iPhone 4S skin. First of all thank you guys at Gelaskins for sending me one of your products. I have been using these skins before on my iPhone 3GS, iPad and iPod Touch but never experienced it on a iPhone 4/S device. So here are my thoughts.

The good


The material. Gelaskins material feel very solid. It will protect you for scratches and sticky fingerprints. You get a nice grip because the material isn't slippery as the phone is itself.

The looks. It looks great. It totally changes your phones looks. Gelaskins has a lot of variety at their website which will suite everyone's taste.

Wallpaper. If you want to customize your phones look even more you will get a free wallpaper that will suite your gelaskin. Just visit www.gelaskins.com/wallpapers

Price. It only cost 14.95$ (103SEK)

The selection. Gelaskins supports lots of different devices like several HTC phones, Samsung, LG and Motorola. It even supports tablets. I had one for my iPad 1 once and it looked marvelous.

Durability. The skins lasts a long time. I've had my skin on my iPad for 1½ years now and it still look intact.

Make your own. You can make a gelaskin yourself, for instance using a logo of your choice and applying it. I haven't tested it yet but I certainly will sometime in the future.

The bad


Screen protector. The Gelaskins doesn't come with a screen protector. That's a bit of a shame because the device wont be fully protected.

Applying the skin. This can be very tricky. But you can try applying it over and over again and the glue wont be wasted so really there is no worries for it to be worn out.

The fit. As you can see at the pictures below it doesn't fit perfectly. Like in the front you can see the ear speaker hole fit as well as the front camera but the sensor hole isn't perfect. The hole is a bit to large but it wont affect the phones performance so it's not a big deal, at least not for me.

Conclusion

If you are looking to change the looks on your phone gelaskins.com is certainly the store to visit. With a large variety of skins and supporting lots of different devices it's a no brainer, get a Gelaskin. The idea of making your own gelaskin is exciting. I will certainly try to make my own soon. I will post a picture with the result when it's done.
