The Good
The price. It's incredible cheap. 0.99$ (15 SEK)
Performance. It actually works pretty well. I had no problem navigating to the destinations I tested, accept on one occasion. It was when I wanted it to navigate to my home. There's a lot of road construction going down around my crib at the moment so the GPS Navigation 2 went completely mental when I had to take an alternative and temporary road. It wanted me to take a left on a straight forward road. Once I got off that temporary road it started to work normally again.
Features. For an app with this price, it actually contains a lot of features. Local search, map view, take me home button, contact list navigation, iPod playback during navigation, night navigation and True voice guided turn by turn.
Devices. It works on a lot of different apple devices. iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4, 4S, iPad and iPad 2 with 3G.
Bug report. The app has an option to report different bugs you may encounter during the navigation, for instance Bad routing, Blocked streets, Incomplete address, Missing address and Missing barrier. Reporting these misfortunes helps the dev team make it better on the next release or update.
The Bad
Maps. The app says there aren't any hidden cost using GPS Navigation 2, but there is. You can buy a map and download it so your 3G charges won't go sky high. But there is no map available for Sweden. That means the navigation will load the maps through the 3G network on the fly and that my friends can get really expensive if your not on unlimited data.
Language. It only support English. Pretty odd because of it's Nordic edition.
Bad routing. I haven't experienced it a lot but I've read a lot of reports that it sometimes changes routes for no reason, wanting you to make U-Turns randomly especially in larger cities. Some reports even say that their own address doesn't even exist in the GPS Navigation 2 map.
iOS5. Same here. I haven't experinced it yet but some reports says that it sometimes crashes using GPS Navigation 2 under iOS5. An update is probably on the way that will fix this issue.
Conclusion
Despite it's many flaws, the GPS Navigation 2 works pretty well, at least for me. The low price makes it worth buying. If you need a quick and simple navigator and don't want to spend a fortune, then you might want to take a look at this app. I wouldn't recommend this app if maybe need an GPS at work or in other important measures. If the app would route you wrong, if you are in a hurry, doing a work assignment, you will surely get pissed off as well as your boss.
Score 6 out of 10
