It has gone almost a week since the release of iOS 5.0.1. I've been testing the battery life for a few days now and it looks like it has improved. Below you see 3 pictures. The 1st picture is on iOS 5 with the time zone setting off. The other 2 pictures is on iOS 5.0.1. with the time zone setting off.
iOS 5 timezone setting off
As you can see with iOS 5 I got 5 hours and 1 minute of active usage. I got 15 hours and 33 minutes in standby.

Using iOS 5.0.1 without time zone gives me 5 hours and 4 minute of active usage and 1 day and 11 hours in standby. Quite a huge difference. I have been using the phone similar in both cases.
Still there are a lot of reports from people that the battery life has not been improved. It seems that only a few people has gotten an improved battery. So it's back to the drawing board for the Apple team. We will soon see a new update.
As for the coverage problem, it has vanished. I have not heard of any reports that it still exist in the new iOS 5.0.1 update. That's great news.
Next up I will test iOS 5.0.1 without the time zone setting. This will really determine if the bug still exist and the battery life has improved or not. Stay tuned see you in part 2!
